With care for the individual – OBOS Trädgårdsstad – Hem för fler
OBOS, as one of the Nordic region’s largest housing developers, is proud of contributing in creating housing areas where all people – regardless of age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and ethnicity - can find a place, thrive, and feel good. By developing equal housing areas we make it easier for municipalities to make good choices for future generations. Our concept OBOS Trädgårdsstad – Hem för fler, focuses on the individual human being. Through working with human needs such as health, security, community, gender equality, inclusion, diversity and economic equality, we have set the direction for how we want OBOS’s residential areas to look and feel – now, and into the future.
These needs are met through Hem för fler:
Security
All people have the right to feel safe in their homes, but also in the area between houses and in the neighborhood. Through careful planning of our housing projects we contribute to safe residential areas.
Inclusion
Everyone can join in. Through proper planning in our projects, we create inclusive environments where no one should feel excluded.
Community
Together we are strong. To live in a tenant-owner association is also to be a part of a community. We are building to strengthen this community and make it easier for residents to get to know each other.
Equality
Of course, all people, regardless of gender, should have the same rights. We are involved and contribute so that girls and boys get to experience a rich leisure time and a better future on equal terms.
Health
More and more people are suffering physically or mentally, which affects both work, everyday life, and relationships. We create the right conditions so that our customers and members can live healthier lives, both on a mental and physical plane.
Diversity
At OBOS, we believe that diversity breeds success, and the same goes for the projects we develop. By, for example, building with various forms of housing and leasing we contribute to a varied neighborhood.
Economic equality
Some people can easily enter the housing market while others are excluded due to mortgage ceilings and amortization requirements. Through ourmembership program and our purchase models we increase the opportunity for people to own their own accommodation.
And this is how we do it:
Mixed housing and forms of lease
7 out of 10 people dream of owning their own house. By building different types of housing, we are fulfilling housing dreams, while creating diversity in our neighborhoods – something we know contributes to increased security. And by offering OBOS members the opportunity to buy a home through the purchase model OBOS Deläga we give more people the opportunity to enter the housing market.
Equal sponsorship and OBOS ger tillbaka
By sponsoring equally on both grassroot- and elite level, we contribute to even out gaps between girls and boys, reduce segregation and strengthen public health. Through our program OBOS ger tillbaka, we give children and young people a richer leisure time in our residential areas and in the places where we build.
Shareable and sustainable
In many of our projects we have sharing pools for electric bikes and charging posts for electric cars. Not only is it better for the environment, it also facilitates everyday life and helps everyone to make sustainable choices, regardless of economic situation.
Healthy and personal housing
By environmentally certifying our houses, we create sustainable, healthy housing for both people and environment. We offer our customers the opportunity to make choices in their homes based on personal taste and needs. And by thinking about details, such as placing the entrances towards eachother, we build security in the area by offering a better overview of the neighborhood.
Life between the houses
By building in greenery, walkways, meeting places and good lighting in between the houses we create both cozy and safe residential areas. Places in protection from sun and wind, winding street networks and a service point adjacent to the area is also important when we plan for life between the houses.
Good neighbours
Many people feel alone in today's society. By building in areas for social community, such as greenhouses, playgrounds, outdoor gym, barbecue areas and boules courts in our projects we make it easier for the residents to meet and get to know each other.
Solutions for different needs
We all have different needs to get our everyday life together. We offer smart solutions for, for example, working from home and "bi-weekly families". For those with reduced mobility, we can, for example, adapt placement of appliances, reinforce indoor lighting, install ramps by the entrance and elevate planting beds.
Fun facts for the kids!
The importance of a bus stop
Riding a bus is good for the environment. It is also cheap to take a bus. And you get more exercise too when you go to the bus stop! That is why we like to build our houses near bus stops.
Can you work out at the gym outside?
Sure! It's called an outdoor gym, and is at least as good as walking in a gym inside. In addition, you get fresh air while talking with the neighbors.
Housing for bees!
Did you know that bees also need somewhere to live? Bees are vital to both man and the environment. That is why we have bee hotels in some of our projects. That way we help the bees so that they get a home.
Can you save sunshine?
Yes, if you put solar cells on the roof! When the sun shines on the solar cells the sun's rays are transformed to energy. That energy can be used by the person who lives in the house, just like regular electricity.
Can you cultivate community?
Yes! Many people like to grow vegetables. And when many people are cultivating together; they may become friends at the same time! Then you can say that you have cultivated community.
What grows on the roof?
Sedum is a type of plant that can grow on the roof. Then it is called a sedum roof and we have it in several of our projects. It helps reduce noise from traffic, makes the air we breathe better and is good for the birds that live nearby.
